Happy New Year!

Ok, so I know I'm 2 days early, but I wanted to post before I ran out of time this weekend. I hope everyone had a wonderful break. I just got back in town last night from my trip to Utah. The cabin the mountains was fantastic!

I hope everyone is ready for a new year! I've got some good stuff planned for all my classes and I'm really looking forward to it. Chamber and Chorale, I hope you are listening to Cloudburst to be ready for the spring.

Happy New Year!

BYU - Vocal Point

I stumbled across this tonight. It was a very good stumble!

Lots of New Pictures!!

I have posted a lot of new pictures on the website. Go to the photos page for highlights from the Peabody and the Holiday concert. I have added a new Albums page where I can add a more in-depth look at our choirs.

One more week!

Only one more week of school until we have a nice break! If there are any outstanding assignments that you still have, please turn them in immediately!!

Chorale and Chamber, go to the Chamber Choir page on the website and I have a link for you down in the lower left-hand corner.

Start thinking now about Solo&Ensemble. I want to be more prepared than we were last year.

Great Concert!!

Just a quick note (like a 32nd)...

Great concert last night! I felt it went really well! I hope you felt proud of the job you did to make it a success!

As soon as I get audio tracks from the concert, I'll post them on our website.

Concert this week!!!

Hey everyone,
Just a quick reminder about what's going on this week. Dress rehearsal is Monday, Dec. 6 at 4:00. The concert is on Tuesday - you need to be there at 6:00 and the concert starts at 7:00. Both the dress rehearsal and the concert are happening at GPAC.

Also, this Wednesday is the final P.L. check of the semester. Anyone that is a "follower" of this blog by Wednesday night will get an extra point.

Lastly, check out the Choir website (see link in the right-hand menu) for new videos of the Student Live Listening Logs as well as audio tracks from the Chamber Choir performance from Borders (these won't be active until Monday).

Blast From the Past

This is a song I wrote my first year at GHS for my "Chamber Ensemble" (it's a long story) back when I used to sponsor a poetry/lyric writing contest.

Write "Dreams" on your Listening Log this week for an extra point.

Coupon Book Finals!

Ok, so it's official.

*Top teacher: Mr. Danielson! (459 books to Mr. A's 436)
*Top class: Chorale! (details of party to be discussed later)
*Top seller in Mr. D's classes: Mandy Hrach (by a donation of $9.00 more than Dylan)
*Top seller overall: Mandy Hrach (ok, this one isn't "official" yet, but it's pretty certain)

Congrats to everyone. We hit the department goal of $75,000!! Please bring your books back to school. I need all books back by Friday, December 3.

Since my classes came out on top, I'd like to do something for everyone that sold something for me. I'm not sure what though. I don't think I can bake that many cookies, but maybe I can come up with something else. Give me ideas.

Something Creepy for Your Holiday Season

SLLL - Finally

All Student Live Listening Logs from 11-12-10 are finally online. Check out each choir's page on the choir site.

The tracks from our Fall Concert should be up today as well.

Also, just to see how many people read this after last week, if you write "Elbows" in the spot for my signature this week, you can earn an extra point on your practice log.

Posting Comments

It is possible to post comments on the blog. Click "comments," write what you need, choose anonymous, you'll then be asked to enter in a verification word. It should all work. I got it to work for me, at least.

Oh, and please subscribe to the blog. That way, you'll never miss my updates.

EWVC - Choir Tag

Ok folks, for those that are participating in the virtual choir experience, here's what you need to do to get our videos all grouped together:

After you finish your video, as you upload it to YouTube, you will need to add "Tags" to the video. Your tag line should read as follows: ewvc2choir74b9b764a9 Sleep "Virtual Choir" "Eric Whitacre" "Light and Gold"

ewvc2choir74b9b764a9 is our choir tag, so it needs to be there so it can be linked to us.

If you need music, see me in class and I'll get you music. If you need a webcam, see me and arrange a time to use mine.

Good luck!!

Accompanist needed!

If you know anyone who plays the piano really well and is looking for some extra money, we're looking for someone to accompany our spring musical. Have them contact me @ 901-691-1444.

Eric Whitacre's Virtual Choir - SLEEP

Alright, so here's the deal. You've heard me talk about the virtual choir for the past two school years. We've done two videos so far - "Sleep" and "Lux Arumque." Eric Whitacre wasn't really involved in the first one - he just presented the idea and we ran with it; that's why I'm conducting instead of him. Anyway, he wants to do "Sleep" again - this time with him conducting. I'd like to get at least 20 of you involved in this project - more if possible. So, I'm going to post 3 videos here. If you want to get involved, let me know and I'll get you music to practice. Again, I'm shooting for 20 people, but I'll accept more.
